Community
updates
Achieving a positive outcome for the site relies on strong relationships with the local community and stakeholders. Understanding what matters to people who live, work and spend time in the area helps shape the project as it progresses.
A stakeholder engagement approach has been developed to provide opportunities for the community to stay informed, ask questions and share feedback at key stages of planning and delivery. This feedback will help guide the ongoing development of the project.
Engagement activities
Mirvac is undertaking early consultation on several State Significant Development Applications (SSDAs) for Blackwattle Bay before they are lodged with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI).
The consultation is being staggered so the community can consider the detail of each SSDA in stages, rather than receiving all of the information at once. This is intended to make it easier for people to understand what is proposed, ask questions and provide feedback on each part of the project.
Feedback received during this early consultation will help inform the SSDAs before they are lodged with DPHI. Once each SSDA is lodged, DPHI will run the formal public exhibition process, where community members and stakeholders can make a submission directly to the Department.
If you would like to share your feedback on our plans for the site, or have a general question, please get in touch via email at blackwattlebaycommunity@mirvac.com .

Community newsletters and updates
On Saturday 16 May, we met with the local community at the new Sydney Fish Markets to talk about what's planned for the public spaces at Blackwattle Bay. We shared some background on the site's planning history and heard from locals and visitors about what they'd like to see in the foreshore and open spaces as part of our first planning application to be lodged. View the content including proposed designs for our first SSDA here.
Please see Mirvac’s media release announcing it is the preferred developer to work with the NSW Government on the redevelopment of the old Sydney Fish Market site, in a project delivery agreement with Infrastructure NSW here.
